This is an Art Deco mantel clock by Norland (England). Stylish and almost iconic streamlined cantilever design, veneered figured walnut and sycamore on an ebonised base, with black numerals and hands.
Norland made a few of this design, all slightly different in their choice of veneers. Norland were makers of quality clocks for a period of roughly 10 years just prior to WWII.
This clock had been owned by the same family from new. We purchased it direct from them and have cleaned and waxed the case as necessary. It has its original quality Norland movement with balance platform. The movement, previously untouched, has been professionally serviced and overhauled; a new mainspring fitted and carries a 6 months guarantee on payment of the full purchase price. It is supplied with an original Norland key.
We have only seen half a dozen others like it..a couple of which we sold ourselves, and another which sold in 2010 for $1950 in the States, with a quartz movement!
