Original Mixed Media Painting 'Design for a 1970s Record Album Cover' by Ian Black Arwa (1927-2015)

This mixed media painting by Ian Black was commissioned in the early 70's as the design for a record cover. Sadly, the band's name has been lost in the mist of time, but hopefully someone out there will remember it! Painter, draughtsman and teacher, born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. He studied at Southampton College of Art, 1949, and Bath Academy of Art, Corsham, 1952–6, teachers including Peter Potworowski, Peter Lanyon, William Scott and Martin Froy. Among mixed exhibitions were Rwa of which he was a member, 1978, Ra. He also had a series of solo shows throughout the UK. Wadham and St Catherine’s Colleges in Oxford as well as the New Zealand government hold his work. Became head of art at Bristol Cathedral School. Lived at Englishcombe, Bath, Somerset.
