A decorative and rare Paul Gilling Arts & Crafts style Copper tray with pewter inlay and detailing.
Gilling was trained at the workshop of Hugh Wallis.
This is an early example of his work produced only during the years 1976 to 1978. Gilling's own personal Pg seal stamp to bottom edge.
Original works like this one were very time consuming and eventually became un-economical to sell. Gilling then made the decision to reduce the hand crafted techniques required, making a change to less work intensive production methods and dropped the use of this mark.
For more information read the entry on Hugh Wallis and Gilling on his web site: Oldcopper.
