Description
Large and impressive Derby porcelain figure of a Scotsman, No. 378, modelled by William Coffee, c.1820. Dressed magnificently in Highland dress standing against a naturalistic tree stump on a small stepped circular base. Classed as "rare" by the Derby Porcelain International Society.  Incised model number to base.
measurements
He measures 28cm (11") high, 12.7cm (5") wide and 9cm (3 1/2") deep.
declaration
The Fancy Fox has clarified that the Rare Bloor Derby Porcelain Figure The Scotsman No. 378 (LA516081) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1820
condition
Condition is very good; there is some very high quality invisible restoration at the neck (only viewable under well-lit high magnification and even then can only be tracked around the area of the collar) and an invisible repair at the left wrist. I think the lowest finger and following along the underside of the hand may have also been restored but the rest of the hand is original but over-sprayed to match. No other damage or restoration. Surface wear is light, there are a couple of tiny paint losses and a little wear to the gilding here and there. There is quite a bit of kiln dust detritus to this figure I mention for completeness.
location
This Rare Bloor Derby Porcelain Figure The Scotsman No. 378 is located in Suffolk, United Kingdom
