Description
This is another rare and interesting barograph made by Short & Mason but retailed through Harrods Opticians, London. Unusually, this instrument is fitted with a polished mahogany case complete with bevelled glass and a chart drawer to the base. The Short & Mason trade catalogue describes their commercial, metal cased version, of this as 'for your research laboratory'. This instrument has a magnification of more than double that of the standard barograph and has a high degree of sensitivity and, according to a further extract from the catalogue states - 'actual movements of the pen are plainly visible during storms or atmospheric disturbances'.
In summary, this barograph combines the technical advantages of a quality and highly sensitive instrument with the timeless beauty of a hardwood case that will grace any home, office or public space.
