Description
Nice early 19th century large Coalport loving cup with finely bat printed scene of Buildwas Abbey in puce on one side. This cup was commissioned with a personalisation for a Christening or other significant event with a gilded monogram to the other side within a decorative frame of grape vine and ears of barley. The shaped strap handle with inner spur has gilded decoration down the back and to the terminals and the rim and foot are also gilded. This design often has the Ironbridge on one side. Unmarked, dated c.1825-1835, reference: Godden, Coalport & Coalbrookdale Porcelains, plate 171.

Condition is good; there is a crack around the bottom of one handle and a very small chip as part of it. The rest of the handle is fine, it has not been repaired. No other issues and surface wear is very light. A nice piece of Regency social history in all ways.
