Silver Mounted with Angels, Book of Common Prayer & Hymns

Surmounted by a silver cover depicting five of Reynold's famous angels, this hundred and twenty year old small Book of Common Prayer and Hymns is a truly wonderful testament not only to the skill of silversmiths, Levi & Salaman, but also to the publisher Eyre & Spottiswoode. Inside, this little volume also speaks of a loving family life wherein a sibling, in May 1904, took the trouble to write on the blank opening page "Just to wish you my darling sister a very happy birthday & many, many more to follow." Further into the volume, concealed between the pages, hides a delicate hand painted celluloid panel sending 'Best Wishes for Easter'. Dare I suggest, if you are looking for a memorable christening present, or a gift to a godchild, this might just be the thing, perhaps carrying a further message on one of the blank rear pages?
