Description
A fine Spode bone china circular bucket shaped basket with grooved gilded handle and very finely potted domed pierced cover. White beading below the gilded rim and decorated in imari style in the highly poppular pattern number 967. This unusual pot is shape number 134 in the factory pattern books and is called "Beaded, Bow-Handled Bucket with or without Pierced Cover" and might have been used similarly to a violet pot or a pot pourri. Marked with the pattern number in red, c.1820. Reference: Spode, Leonard Whiter, pages 102-103 and colour plate VIII.
