Exceptional, fine and impressive George V English sterling silver two handled drinks tray; an addition to our silver tray collection This exceptional antique George V sterling silver tray has an oval form. The surface of this silver drinks tray is embellished with the contemporary engraved coat of arms depicting a fess between three crosses fitchée surmounted with the crest of a wolf rampant, collared*. These heraldic markings surmount the motto 'Sola salus servire Deo' - To serve God is the only Salvation*. The raised rounded border of this antique tray is ornamented with applied thread decoration. This exceptional antique silver tray is fitted with an impressive cast silver pair of reed decorated handles, enveloped with leaf designs to the lower portions. This exceptional example of antique silverware is supported by four impressive cast and applied simplified paw style feet. The underside of this antique silver drinks tray with handles bears the retailer's mark 'D & J Wellby Ltd, Garrick St, London'. * These heraldic markings pertain to the Gore family name.
