Superb Scale Model of Early 19th Century Hanson Cab

This fine and very well accomplished scratch built model is very pleasing to the eye with its exceptional detail, good scale and bright crisp paintwork. It represents an early 19th-century Hanson cab, originally designed by Joseph Hanson in 1834. These lightweight and very manoeuvrable small carriages were very staple and nimble and only required a single horse. These elements greatly reduced the cost of such personal transport, making these cabs very popular in London and the larger towns and cities throughout the 19th century. The model is predominantly wood and metal. It has real glass windows, padded leather cloth seating, and leather rims on the wheels. The passengers sat with a good degree of comfort and shelter but still partially open to the elements at the upper front. While the driver sat high up at the back with no shelter. This wonderful model is fitted with accurate spring suspension and wonderfully detailed lift out oil lamps and a separate whip. It has hinged doors and an opening roof hatch. The paintwork is very neatly done in mustard and black with pin line detailing. This fine model is a rare and lovely example in very good condition and I am sure it would be a pleasing addition to any collection or home.
