Description
A rare Edwardian silver quizzing glass, of sinuous form and set with a central red enamel heart. Quizzing glasses became fashionable in the 18th Century and were worn around the neck on a chain or ribbon, in the form of a pendant. This would enable the owner to get a close up view of their subject, without the need of a monocle or reading glasses. An unusual and desirable example from the turn of the last century. Marked with just the maker's mark (behind the loop). Tests as silver.
