Description
Offered for sale is this “sand cast” model of a Handley Page World War 2 “Hampden” bomber mounted on a marble stand decorated with associated “shells”. Measurements below are maximum as displayed.
The Hampden bomber was in service from late 1940 through to 1943. Nicknames included “pan handle” and “flying tadpole”.
Designed by Gustav Lachlan it had two Bristol Pegasus engines and a four man crew. Speed 257 mph. Range 1720 miles.
