Description
An antique Scandinavian 10-inch terrestrial globe, the Stenders Skoleglobe published by made by P. Lauridsen. The sphere has been covered with a very fine layer of plaster and then coloured paper gores added. These, as well as all of the countries, appear to show steamer ship routes and also what seem to be current patterns. This very likely dates from some time in the 1920s. It could act as an illustration of a very different era. Some of the country names have now changed. Although in a Scandinavian language, the country and place names are fairly easily deciphered. There is no visible arm and the base is of a mid brown varnished wood with a gloss finish. The globe sphere spins smoothly.

declaration
The Gentleman Terrier has clarified that the A 1920s Scandinavian Stenders Skoleglobe 10”, Lauridsen (LA496002) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c1920's
condition
The item is generally in very good condition for its age, but does have a few age-related imperfections: there are no major missing areas to the paper covering, just a few areas of minor wear. In addition, for about one third of the circumference of the globe, at it’s centre, the orb has a very slight separation gap, running for about half of the Pacific Ocean. This slight gap does little to distract from the use of the globe, being more cosmetic, but, if required, a globe restorer would also be able to fix that issue.
