This magnificent antique George IV sterling silver gilt table snuff box has an oval rounded form. The body of this impressive antique snuff box is embellished with a band of flat engraved floral and foliate motifs. This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover encompassed with a thread decorated border to the rim. The upper plateau of the cast cover is embellished with an exceptional scene depicting a battle scene, with soldiers on horseback, all in high relief. The underside of this antique box bears further impressive flat engraved floral and foliate decoration, on a matte background. This exceptional 19th century snuff box retains the original gilding; this has diminished with age in a sympathetic fashion to an aesthetically pleasing mellow colour.
