This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette has been realistically modelled in the form of a book. The body of this antique silver vinaigrette is embellished with impressive engraved scrolling leaf decoration, in addition to ribbed designs replicating the spine and pages of the book. The box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover embellished with further scrolling leaf decoration, incorporating a vacant cartouche to the centre. The hinged silver vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged pierced decorated gilt grille, ornamented with finely pierced and engraved floral decoration.
