Carved Early 19th Century Walnut Box Depicting Gannymede & Zeus

19th Century high relief carved walnut box depicting the capture of Gannymede by Zeus, disguised as an eagle. The box maybe of ‘Grand Tour’ Italian origin, although the lock looks English as it features a stamped stylised Edward I crown with the word “patent” marked underneath. This is a well carved and detailed panel. No key. There is an area of wear or slight damage to the rear side under the right hinge, when viewed from the rear and some general scuffing and wear marks to other areas.
