Description
This superb 19th Century English antique porcelain cabinet plate is very finely hand painted with a rich central display of exotic fruit and foliage over a white ground boarded with a delicate gilded floral pattern. The shaped and pierced surround has a dark cream ground decorated with a multitude of very pleasing flower displays which are all exquisitely hand painted and each one completely different in a bright and colourful palette of vibrant colours. The plate is finished with fine hand gilding in a scroll and foliage pattern. It is in excellent original condition with virtually no wear to the gilding and no restoration. As a point of interest, pineapples were incredibly rare and very expensive at the time when this plate was produced. They were an item that only the wealthiest homes could serve and would have been the highlight of a high society dinner.
