Clockwise is delighted to welcome to the market this fine early Victorian rosewood single fusee 12 inch drop dial wall clock, signed Jas Briscall, Birmingham. The wire-driven eight day movement has just been serviced and comes complete with its original brass pendulum. The bezel has a working latch behind the surround and is original and the dial is in excellent unrestored condition, being complimented by the original hands too. The rosewood case is of traditional two element construction with the flat canted surround attached via pegs to the back box. The lower case has a glass viewing window which is flanked by pierced foliate carved ears. There is an inspection door to the right secured by a latch and the lower door has a fully working original lock and key.
The dial is signed Jas. Briscall, Birmingham and he is known to have been working from 49 Constitution Hill in1840.
The movement has just been restored and as such benefits from my three year guarantee and this clock comes complete with a winding key and lower door key.
