Description
A very rare Derby porcelain sweetmeat figure of a lady stood in front of a large bocage presenting an open rectangular hamper to her side. She wears a long skirt ornately decorated with gilt feathery foliage and small red berries, a pink blouse and an white pinafore with gilt border around the apron and a starred diaper pattern to the top.She has a small headband of flowers in her hair and holds a flower in her right hand. Patch marks to the base. c.1765. Reference: Derby Porcelain Figures 1750-1848, An Illustrated Catalogue, compiled by Stuart Shepherd and produced by The Derby Porcelain International Society. This figure is referenced alongside her male companion as Gallant and his Lady Sweetmeat Holders (ii) and documented as "very rare".

condition
In good overall condition with a few points to note as follows: There has been a professional repair to both arms and touched in. The porcelain appears sound underneath including fingers and flower. A small chip to the inside of the basket cover has been filled and touched in and small areas of restoration to the corner of her apron and moulding to the front of the base. Some minor chips to the extremities of the bocage. Minor handling wear only. The neck is fine.
