Small Mahogany Fusee Mantel Clock by John Durden, London

A good quality small sized 8 day mahogany mantel clock of small dimensions, by John Durden, 27 Fenchurch Street, London, circa 1875. The well proportioned case veneered in figured fiddle back mahogany. The elegant pediment top, surmounted by the original brass ball finial. Cast brass silk lined fishscale frets to the sides. Locking cast brass bezel with convex glass and the original lock to the glazed rear door. The recess panelled front with step moulded plinth standing on four ogee cast brass feet. The circular white enamelled dial, signed to the centre J Durden, London. The fully restored high quality chain driven twin fusee movement of eight day duration, with the original anchor escapement and striking the hours and half hour on a curled blued steel gong. Heavy brass bob pendulum, with London style rating adjustment and knurled thumbscrew pendulum restraint. Beautiful blued steel hands of fleur de lis design. An elegant, well proportioned original clock with the movement fully restored. All of our clock movements are restored by our horologist who works exclusively for us.
