Clockwise is delighted to welcome into its collection this extremely fine quality oak bracket clock from the esteemed makers Winterhalder and Hofmeier. This clock has a restored decorative brass dial with spandrels to the corners, a matted finish to the dial inner and a silvered chapter ring. This piece is another high quality fantastic Winterhalder and Hofmeier eight day striking movement that strikes the half hour and hour on a single sonorous gong. Original blued hands compliment the overall appearance and the case has extensive carved decoration to the front along with inlaid dentil work, a curved pediment top and turned finials.
Winterhalder & Hofmeier were considered the finest clockmakers of the Victorian era and were based in Germany’s Black Forest region. The company was established in 1810 and in 1850 Anton Hofmeier joined the company, who was himself a clockmaker and relative to the Winterhalder family. The company then became known as Winterhalder and Hofmeier. This is the smaller size of this style available and has been fully restored and comes with its original pendulum, a winding key, and has my standard three-year global warranty
