Although it is believed that Thomas Sheraton may have never made a substantial piece of furniture himself, through his pattern books he would become one of the most influential furniture designers of the late 18th Century. Born in 1751 Sheraton had been apprenticed to a cabinetmaker before setting up as a furniture consultant in London in 1790. In 1791 he began publishing a series of pattern books which gained instant recognition. His style embraced a refined slender look that was far less curvaceous than his contemporaries.
The Sheraton Style would prove popular up until the 1820s and then saw a revival during the early 20th Century. At LoveAntiques we have a good range of antique and vintage furniture in the Sheraton Stye, offered by trusted sellers from around the UK.
