Description
Here is a lovely brass plaque depicting the Contessina De Bardi, portrayed as St Cecilia in the guise of Artemis. This copy was made in 1901 or shortly after. St Cecilia was a 3rd century Roman noblewoman, martyred for her beliefs, and today she is the patron saint for music and musicians. The item appears unsigned. It has been drilled on the top edge, for wall mounting. The condition is good and shows wear commensurate with the age and the use the item has been subject to. Old polish deposits are also to be found around the edges.
