Murano glass does not refer to a single company but instead a group of glass makers all working from the Italian Island of Murano, near Venice. Murano glass surged in popularity around the world during the 1950s and 60s and it is these more modern colourful fun pieces most people instantly think of when they hear the Murano name. In fact dedicated glass makers have been producing their unique wares on the Island since at least 1291 but these have been grouped under the wider Venetian name tag. Today Murano remains a hub for studio glass although much of the colourful ware associated with them is actually made elsewhere. At LoveAntiques we have a great range of antique and vintage Murano glass all from trusted sellers around the UK and beyond.
