Royal Worcester was established in 1751 and during the height of its popularity in the 18th and 19th Centuries was producing an innovative range of porcelain. The works had been founded to help provide employment in the Worcester area and they worked with the Bristol firm of Lund & Miller to create a soft pottery which incorporated soapstone. This gave Worcester porcelain its unique white tone still admired today. Their designs and decoration were also highly influenced by Oriental wares and Meissen.
Despite the company experiencing a long and varied history, items created in the 18th Century remain the most sought after. These are known as ‘1st Period Worcester’. Worcester also worked with a range of talented painters and designers during the 19th Century and these works are also keenly collected. At LoveAntiques we have a fine collection of Antique and Vintage Worcester Porcelain spanning the breadth and depth of this sought after company.
